[Fe...]
Hi, I have a question to experts to make to following: I have a injection molded valve seat with cyllindrical surface. I need to know the surface normal of the fitting plane. ( ...evaluate the direction of warpage ) What I did up to now: - selected the surface from cad patches -created a nominal plane with chebisev/ outer fit. - I have selected the measurement principle as fitting element. My questions are: - Is my method is good to do what I trying to achieve? - How I can get the direction (normal vector) of the measured plane? Thank you in advance. [Ch...]
I would recommend using Gaussian best-fit (outer), since it is less sensitive on the extend of the actual selection than Chebyshev. The normal of the plane is available in any command that uses a direction by selecting it in the respective widget. For scripting (or user defined checks), the normal can be accessed via gom.app.project.actual_elements['LavalEdgePlane'].normal.
