[Da...] Posted October 14 Share Posted October 14 I haven’t seen it before, but it looks "simply" like a recessed VAST XXT Sensor to make more out of your machine volume. An ingenious but somewhat lazy idea that allows Zeiss to use an XXT sensor without any technical change in a new way. It seems logical: they’ll make the most money with hardware that changes as little as possible. Could replace the regular XXT in the future. I get excited about new tech, especially when it comes to CMM sensors. It's great to see Zeiss innovating, and I look forward to learning more about this. I applaud advancement, whether that is on existing devices like the XXT or otherwise. It's healthy to experiment and take calculated risks. It's okay to fail, as often this leads to learning and iterating forward. The value-add comes from having a culture of innovation and adaptability. . I know very little about the Revo, but I've got an ex-coworker who brags about how long of a probe the articulating head can swing accurately and less probe changes needed during a program. If so, this is definitely a value-add. Updating the center of rotation for the XXT closer to the center of mass would result in more clearance, less frequent collisions and less inertia and damage when collisions do occur. . That mount is special to the spectrum though, so are they going to have a version for the big machines with the dovetail mount to fully replace the RDS with this? While it doesn't index on 2 axes like an RDS, use of this with an RT allows for infinite angle adjustment. Available in -90, 0 and +90 plate orientations.
