We Have a quote from Zeiss for a new one which is around 13 500.They want another 7000 for installation anyone swapped RDS head on their machine? We did that on Pc dmis cmm's and it was a 20 minute job. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

We've replaced the XXT, not the RDS portion (if that what you're talking about).
Sounds like the gears (which are aluminum) have possibly stripped out the teeth.

When was the last time it was serviced?

as part of the service the Tech's can run a program called W3 and one of the things that does is reteach all the locking positions.

We have an RDS that was crunchy and failing 3 years ago that's been working fine since having this done.

Please sign in to view this quote.

The new RDS unit must be validated and mapped (CAA file that correlates to the SN). This cannot be achieved by anyone but an official ZEISS service tech.
