Space, Touch or Plane Point?

I'm measuring the 4 planes, creating a secondary alignment from each plane (+Z_Spatial).
Then probing 4 points (one on each plane relative to its alignment (forcing it to probe normal-
to the surface) and using the mid-points from each pair of opposing points to evaluate the true
position. My question is, what type of point would be the best to use?

Hello Clark,

I'll be honest, for as simple as it would seem at first glance, point definitions are pretty complicated. I'm not sure if you've seen this before, but in the case you haven't, here's a knowledge base going over it:

With that in mind, I don't think you'll see too much difference, as long the probing is in one of cardinal directions of the alignment. I don't like doing touch points for something like this, though, mostly out of a matter of principle (since they can cause weird behaviors if they aren't pointing in the correct direction). If I had to take a stand, I would say probably say a plane point because it will do the correction in the direction of a given normal vector and doesn't do any projections, like a space point does (which might have an effect if it can't reach the correct point and the plane is tilted or something).

I hope you find that useful.
