[He...] Posted May 2 Share Posted May 2 I have a question about Gear Pro. I need to know if it is possible to measure a section of an internal thread or worm. I will have an external axis for it to sit in, but this is the only area I will be measuring. 1. Do I program it as a whole? 2. Can it be programed like a sector gear? 3. Yes, I can get in there for clearance, we have a way. 4. Do I keep the RT on or off? 5. Any other advise or screenshots would be a great help. Thank you so much. Thank you for your help. [Ky...] Posted May 2 Share Posted May 2 Hello Heather, So, to be honest, I've never come across this sort of situation, so I can't be entirely sure. The full answer probably depends on what you all need to measure. I am reasonably confident we can do an axial pitch, though like I said, I have not done something like this before. Doing the profile is a little bit more uncertain, but I think it might work. I would probably think that trying to do the lead is unlikely to work, though. For your specific questions, I would say at least for the pitch, we can probably do it as a whole gear and just make sure it goes to the correct location for feed in. I don't think sector gears is going to help us much. If I'm thinking right, that's for teeth that are missing, not necessarily a chunk of the gear missing and the teeth continuing as normal. I would probably keep the rotary table on, but that's mostly because I believe the worm module requires the rotary table (at least that's what the documentation says). That being said, it probably shouldn't move too much. Hopefully this helps a little bit.
