CMM Socket Red Light

I am getting a red light in the "CMM socket" in Gear Pro. Calypso is not connecting to Gear Pro unless I first connect them by clicking the "Gear" icon in Calypso.

I have to reestablish the connection manually every time I restart Calypso. Is there a setting in Gear Pro or Calypso that needs to be changed so the connection is made automatically every time Calypso opens?

Hello Brad,

The supported method for switching between to Gear Pro to Calypso is through the "Gear" button you are mentioning, unless I am misunderstanding you. The user cannot open up Gear Pro separately (except in the case of using simulation) or switch between the two different software just by using the Windows tabs on the task bar, not without issues anyway. The button to switch back to Calypso in Gear Pro is that tree-like icon in the upper left that is labeled "Calypso", by the way.

I hope this is what you are talking about. Let me know if it isn't.

Thanks for chiming in. I've got all that. My problem is, when I start a program run from Calypso when it makes the switch to the Gear Pro section, Gear Pro is not connecting to the CMM. Gear Pro does not connect to the CMM unless I first open Calypso and activate GP through the Gear icon in Calypso. Then I can close GP and get the inspection program to work. Once the "connection" is made it works as long as I do not restart Calypso. But every time I restart Calypso, I have to "reconnect" GP manually.

We had to do a reinstall of Calypso and GP recently, and this is a problem we did not have before.

I'm sorry I misunderstood, Brad. So this is happening when you run a program and it reaches the Gear Pro macro? I can't recall that happening before, at least not repeatably.

I can't think of any settings that would affect that, though if there were anything, it would probably be under the settings menu. I can't see anything in there, though.

When you uninstalled and reinstalled Gear Pro, did you have to replace any folders? There are a few folders in the GearNT folder that you do not want to rewrite, which can cause strange behaviors (most notably the CMM-OS and ACIS). 1 thing we can try is to uninstall Gear Pro again, delete those folders in the GearNT folder (at least) and try a reinstall.

Alternatively, and this might be a stretch, there might be something in the log files. There is a knowledge base article about those here:
https://portal.zeiss.com/knowledge-base?id=932701

There might be something in there, especially in the CMM data traffic, but it might be long shot since it can be difficult to understand sometimes.

Thanks. Maybe I will try something with the logs.

To make the matter stranger the problem does not occur with my Windows login, but does occur with my co-worker's Windows login. It is using the same Calypso and Gear Pro, but it occurs in some Windows logins and not others.

I guess it is more of a nuisance than anything else since I know the workaround.

I found something in the CMM_OS log.

The attached "bk" png is from the Windows login that works and the "inspector" png is from the Windows login that doesn't work.

After a "SetupSystem()-ACISActivate" line, the "bk" side has a C"MM-OS Socket connect !" line followed by three other line/commands.

But the "inspector" side does not have that and skips straight to "ACISActivate"
