Vast XT Head to RDS programs

Hi,

If you write a program using a Vast XT scanning head machine, you can run that same program on an RDS head machine by just updating the appropriate stylus system selections and maybe some clearances yes?

Same versions of Calypso.

This is a "maybe" scenario, I have seen it attempted successfully and I have seen it fail miserably. There are some functions that can be done with a scanning head that are not available or do not work well with an XXT, so if those are in the program it may cause issues. Another issue is if you can build matching tooling for the XXT, as the length and weight restrictions are much smaller.

We have both where I work. As long as the probe and probe position is named the same you should not have any problems.

Thanks. Yes this is a very simple check with multiple pin diameters aligned in the same (+Z) direction. The RDS will not have to be indexed and will be in the same (0,0) position and will use same stylus throughout. We'll see...
