Running new progs on older versions of Calypso / Back saving

Hi,

If you're running on a "newer" version of Calypso, in this case 2020 v7.0, and you want to run same program on different machine with older 2018 v6.6, can you back save it somehow? I know it won't run on older version. I thought is there a file within program you have to delete or rename maybe? Any examples would be appreciated. Thanks.

Unofficially yes, in many cases you can open that version file and change the version to your older one.. however you need to be careful as I've noticed other settings tend to change to and I can't tell you what settings all change.

if you have multiple CMMs that will share programs it's more important to have them on the same version than it is to have them on the latest version.

Unless you need a specific thing in the newer version, uninstall it, and install the newest version your oldest machine is entitled to on everything. For example we have 33 machines, almost all running 6.6.28 as that's the newest version our oldest entitlement is for, even though many of them have SMA's that only ran out last year. And then once I'm finally done upgrading the last couple and the new GD&T Library is ironed out I'm going to start bugging management for a site wide upgrade...

OR, convince your management you need an upgrade on the older one, then only install the same V7.0 on it.

Licenses are backwards compatible. You can get a brand new machine then immediately install an older version on it.

Changing the ver file is like rolling the dice. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and sometimes it corrupts the program all together. Best bet is what Michael said above. Keep it all the same version

If you are downgrading versions or even adding an older version (example you have 2023 calypso and you want to install 2020) you have to uninstall the new version, install the old version (and service pack) and then install the new version (with service pack).
