[Lu...] Posted October 27, 2023 Share Posted October 27, 2023 Hello, I'm new to the CMM community, and these forums are a great source of information, it makes my job a lot easier, so thank you all for being so active on here. I've been tasked with finding out how to inspect a surface finish on our parts using our CMM's, one is Spectrum RDS VAST XXT, and the other one is O-Inspect 3/2/2 VAST XXT. For Surface Finish on a CMM you would need a different CMM (Prismo) with has the appropriate hardware to support ROTOS. While the ROTOS is an exquisite piece of hardware, unless you are in production w/ automation 24/7, the cost and effort required to implement typically exceeds the benefit over a separate profilometer. In the 2022 release video and release notes, they said a feature being released was "roughness evaluation with any type of sensor" It's listed as feature 219486 in the 2022 release notes. Naturally, I was pretty excited about this. One less step to do, and one less step for operators to miss. Unfortunately, it was a lie. It doesn't work with the Vast XT I've got on a Micura.
