Looking for ideas

Recommended Posts

have a prototype part that i need to count serrations (spline teeth really). Company not buying gages which is normally used for this. teeth are aprox .0165" and 279 of them. Very small. Was hoping to just scan 360 degrees then use the outliner to count but my mind is just going blank at the moment. Any thoughts?

Wouldn't it be easier to just calculate it? Measure a 3 or 4 point circle on the spline using self-center points (the method is mentioned in a similar topic viewtopic.php?t=11846)

Then take the distance between two spline teeth using self center points. Use these points to establish the angular distance and divide it into 360.

This is but one method and lots of alternative routes can come from it as well.
