Hello Everyone!
I am brand new to using calypso and just finished taken the basic training class. I am having trouble doing the base alignment for this part. I want to check the part like it sits but not sure how to do the alignment since i have no flat surface on the Z axis. I want my Zero to be in the center of the bore.

You could use the plane as your Y0 and spatial rotation (Y-) then make a 3D line between two of the bores in the bolt pattern and use that as your planar rotation. In my example it would either be Z- or Z+ depending which bore you defined first top bore first then bottom would make the 3D line running in the Z- direction and bottom then top would be Z+. Then you can use the center bore of the part as your Z0 and X0.

As you're eluding to, if one hole is identified as the tertiary datum feature, one hole would be enough.

There are other things to consider. For example, if the hole pattern is just off location, aligning off one hole will rotate the part alignment, throwing other features off, making it difficult to understand what is happening to the results.. By aligning using a 3d Line between 2 circles, the hole pattern stays oriented as machined and the location deviations can be more easily identified.
