Redefine Nominals for Bore Pattern Position

It happens anytime you change the datums, because unlike a regular Position characteristic BFBP doesn't automatically update your nominals.

Open the pattern, delete, then reselect the features you're measuring and it'll be okay. I've gotten into the habit of always filling out the DRF first because we have a ton of patterns.

Does the bore pattern have to be more than two bores to work? And do they have to be equally spaced apart, or can they be offset from one another? I have a position callout for a two bore pattern and another one for a 5 bore pattern with the bores offset from one another, so I'm not sure the bore pattern option will work for these.

Bore pattern will work for any circle/cylinder feature as well as others feature types. "Pattern" simply means it is a grouped set, not an even distribution/spacing. The nominals are set in the patterned feature definition.

When setting up a BFBP, I try to fill in the datum features and the tolerance before I select the features. If you do the features first, you'll keep getting that dialog box.

Hi Jeff,

I was told that you can only us BFBP when you have multiple or composite position tolerance callouts. Is this true, or can I use it in situations like the one in the photo I've attached? I guess what I'm asking is: when should BFBP be used and when shouldn't it be used when programming positions?

Yes. However, I assume there may be a situation where you would want to click NO, otherwise why would this dialog box be necessary. I just don't know what that situation might be.
