Assigning User Privileges

Hello out there. I am having an issue that I need some assistance with. My shop has a lot of the machinists run their own parts, no big deal (sort of). The problem is, there has been programs edited by them and we do not want that to happen. We are trying to get it now so that they can still run the programs, but make no edits to the program. I set up a new user "Operator". I assigned to them just run measurement plan, nothing else. I backed out of Calypso to the sign on screen, changed from Master to Operator, signed in with the password and Calypso opened up. I called up a program and I can still edit it and run it. I went to Extras - Settings - User, opened the Operator tab, opened Privileges, unchecked all the boxes except Run Measurement Plan. I then clicked Apply, OK. What am I missing? This is something that I rarely ever do and think I am missing something, but not sure what. All help would be appreciated. Thanks.

In the part program, locate Inspection do not open it, Right Click > Inspection > Properties > Read Only> Apply
They may make changes in the program they are running, but it will not allow them to save it over the original program.
You'll have to do this for each part Inspection you do not want changed.

Only make the Inspection Read Only, not the entire Part File.

For any operator that should only be able to run a program, go to "Extras"/"Setting"/"User". Under the Privileges tab, only check "Environment Setup" and "Run Measurement Plans". This only allows running a program. If any feature or characteristic is opened for any reason, you will need to close the program and reopen it before it will run again. If you want an operator to be able to modify a program and run, but not save it, also check "Execute modified measurement plans from other users".

This is one of the best things I've done. There are so many options, and multiple log in levels. It takes some work in the beginning, but very easy to add programs once desktop is set up. I got tired of nondisclosed crashes and changes. Now there is little argument when combined with Observer log.

I was having the same issue, until, I made the inspection file read only. This causes all sorts of pop up windows instructing you to save as. This has worked for us, no more unexpected changes.
