Curve Question: Best Strategies for Evaluating at Sections

Recommended Posts

.
Based on the curvy feature in the pic below, how would you create and evaluate sections normal to the progression of this feature?

In other words, pretend there is a symmetry curve created from the two sides of this opening. How would you slice it as the curve progresses?

This looks like a fun one. Several ways to do it but none of them "easy". Freeform would be the best to evaluate under and extract your data based in intersections but being that this is a ball groove I am assuming your tolerances are very tight.

My first thought is to create 3 alignments. 1 based on each of the two tangent radii center points and creating angular rotations about that alignment to create sections perpendicular to the ball groove. These could be performed with a loop/pattern or individually
The 3rd alignment is easier and just requires taking the section from a CAD entity line at the beginning or end of the single straight section, creating an alignment based on that section as origin and rotation then creating an offset or linear pattern for each section you wish to apply.
