[To...]
Does anyone have a guide or a set of simple step-by-step instructions for creating a program to measure a gear? For example 1 - Create a base alignment in Calypso 2 - Start GearPro 3 - Click this button 4 - Click that button 5 - Do this
[Ow...]
I've got a few stuff but, it's kinda prehistoric 🤣 . I'd bet Chris Rotolo or somebody else will visit and give you everything you need. The big question is going to be "what type of gear", spur, helical, bevel, what type of report, k-charts, crown, etc...

I'm really looking for a more simplistic set of steps. For example, I believe many years ago, you would create a BA in Calypso, and then start GearPro from an icon in Calypso. Then populate the gear info and the gear program would basically write itself. Are the steps still the same?
[Ke...]
Tom, That set of steps will certainly work, and at its most basic you can essentially program Gearpro by going through the icons on the left side from top to bottom and filling in the relevant information(obviously as we get into more complicated parts this will require more steps), remembering that single clicking the icon opens one menu and double clicking opens a more in depth menu, both of which will almost certainly need to be used to program the part. However it is equally viable to create a program in Gearpo, then create the Calypso program and base alignment-so long as whichever order you utilize, the alignment in the Calypso program that will be used to drive the Gearpro measurement(typically base alignment, but can also be a secondary alignment) matches the offset used in the Gearpro program. To add a Gearpro measurement to calypso, create the Gearpro program, save it, and then in Calypso go to "features->additional Features->Gear" once you select Gear it will bring up a file explorer, select the Gearpro program you want to integrate into the Calypso program, and the alignment you want to use to run the Gearpro program from (I cant get a screen shot of where to set this, but it is pretty evident when you are in the menu), and Calypso will add a gear characteristic and feature to the program. This can be done to add multiple gear measurements to a single program as well. The button to open Gearpro from calypso is the Gear shaped icon to the left of the Manual probe pickup icon (in versions prior to 7.4 this icon is yellow...) [Ch...]
These steps are pretty accurate. One thing I would note is : you can measure a gear with and without Rotary table movement. If gear is large enough you can inspect without rotating R/T. That being said, most require R/T, so before base alignment you should Qualify R/T with a feature on part, then measure B.A. features with R/T rotation. Gear Programs do not write themselves yet - I'm waiting for Calypso quantum edition .. **goes to to ChatGTP : "can you write me a Calypso and gear program..." 😃 ..nope not yet... For gear pro : mainly work top to bottom on the left side of screen, input program data, gear parameters, then set measurement settings and toelrances. I beleive there is someting in the manual or help guide about ''measuring a gear it's that easy", which has a basic walkthrough. Let us know if you get stuck anywhere ... Good luck ! [Ki...]
Dear all, Greetings of the Day! I am a Master's Student in Mechanical Engineering. Recently I cast bevel gears and I want to measure their pitch diameters, tooth profile deviations, and cone angles. In my lab, Zeiss DuraMax CMM is available but nobody is there who can guide me about this machine. I am a beginner at learning Calypso and Gear Pro. Could you please be my good favor by sharing basic informative stuff that can help me to understand the procedure of measurements? I have my CAD file and I uploaded the IGES file of my CAD model in Gear Pro but I don't know the next procedure. How can I set up all the values at gear pro and then take it to calypso for measurements? If there is any tutorial, that can I can see and perform step-by-step for the measurements. Can you please guide me in this regard? it will be a great support for me. Kind Regards
