The different distances

Hello everybody. I started to learn how to program with Calypso not so long ago. My question is, when do I use the different distances (polar 2d, 3d, cartesian, point distance, simple distance) ?
Sorry for any spelling/translation mistakes, english isn´t my first language

It would be helpfull to see documentation ( help files ) - it should describe usage and how to use it.

I mostly use caliper distance mostly due ability to choose which alignment i want to use.
Next is cartesian for opposing planes - it reports length of perpendicular - difficult is to set it up correctly.

I don't use others too much - caliper distance gives you 2D and 3D measuring like polar do.
Play with it.

In the User Guide in Calypso do a search for "Characteristics for Size - Distance".
It has a brief description of each one that may help.
Also, as Martin said play with them which will help you get familiar.

Be aware that the second feature in the distance characteristic sets the direction of the measurement, so a more stable feature in the second feature selection will give better data. (Point to plane will give better accuracy than plane to point.)

Thank you so much! Unfortunately I don´t have the caliper distance in this Version of Calypso (2015 6.0.04). So I´m going to test the other ones out. 🙂
