Minor Annoyance - Slots

Why doesnt Calypso offer The center to center distance on Slots?
The only option i have is the overall length.
So when dealing with callouts like this i have to add 2 half circles and do a distance between, effectively doubling the time it takes to measure the slot.

Or is there another way? is there something i have overlooked?

You could probably use the lasso tool to recall the slot radius points into the half-circle features for evaluation, right? Or some other form of range bounding for point recall from the measured slot.

I deal with slots a lot, and you're right, there is no good way to do it. I now have curve, which makes it easier, but you still have to make 4-6 features for one slot. Would be very convenient to be able to actually use the "slot" feature for a slot.

I have one almost just like this. I measure it with curve, then use lasso to select each circle. This method really isn't that accurate though. Getting good center points with half circles is sketchy at best. The only good solution I have found is to convince design team to switch to a profile measurement. But we have design control in house so I understand this isn't an option for everyone.

Yes, that's the way to do it, just pointing out that it would be nice if they added a check-box to report the diameters like Tom mentioned or hell, even an option to report potential taper. I'm fairly sure I submitted a request for the option many years ago.

All said though, there have many, many improvements over the years and I'm sure they will continue. Can't make everything perfect of they wouldn't be able to promote any more updates: 🤣

Working on a different program today, 66 slots.
I just found out that Result element does not play with the Paintbrush tool, so i have to manually enter the formula for each slot.

Last time I tried, you could do the formula for the first feature ("Slot 1), and the copy and paste the Result Element for as many slots as you need, and then change the slot # in the formula without actually right clicking and selecting Formula... a small time saver

Well i get that, but that's what i was bummed out about.
Changing Slot1Length - Slot1Width to Slot2Length - Slot2Width 66 times is going to be a real drag.

What I just tried and seemed to work is :

If you are simply using "Slot 1" Expansion A - Expansion B, etc.

Pattern your slot measurement (66x).

Add LOOP to your results element, right click insert start 1, end 66.

Worked for me, I verified the looped results to individual calculations.
