[Ji...]
We purchased the offline seat and set it up on a laptop. When I started to move the stylus system it wants it in .SSC so I went back to the CMM computer and tried to open Planner window. It is not operational on the CMM computer. I will have multiple CMM's to program. Will we have to buy a license for each CMM we use to be able to have Planner functional? I would have thought that was in with the cost of the off line seat. If you have to buy the license for each machine does anyone have a good work around to have the stylus work on simulation for each CMM?
[To...]
No, one planner seat can program multiple cmm types. Create a machine tab for each unique type of cmm. I've attached a couple of machine types. They are old but may still work, or at least get you started.Planner - Machine Set Up - DuraMax.pdfPlanner - Machine Set Up - RDS_VAST-XXT_03_30_2021.pdf
[Ji...]
Tom, The new system does not give me any options other than simulation. Will not allow me to add a machine name.

Most common issue is not pressing the tab key after you type the name of the new system
[Ji...]
Tom, That was it. I have a master probe working now. Can I just copy the data for the other styli or do I have to build them in stylus creator to have the .SSC file?
[To...]
Please sign in to view this quote. By design, I believe it was intended to create every stylus system in SSC first, then create the stylus system on the machine. However, many people started writing programs on the CMM and then eventually migrated to Planner and are in the same dilemma as you are. If you export your probe data from the machine and import into Planner, you'll get something you can work with but it would be a CAD representation of your stylus system. My preference is to have the CAD version, even if it means a little more work. If you have an non-CAA RDS stylus system with a lot of angled stylus positions, there is a way to do both but it's been awhile since I've done it so I don't remember all of the steps. It involves creating a stylus system from the RC-List window (not exporting) from the machine and then using that text file in Planner to add the angles to an SSC stylus system. I found a doc from June 2020 that I was working on but don't remember if it is complete or for which version of Calypso. 1. On CMM, go to Stylus System Management. 2. Select stylus system on left. 3. Click Create RC List (at lower right) When prompted to makes stylus system active, click Yes. 4. Click “Styli list” tab. 5. Click “Save” icon located at middle and save .txt file on desktop. 6. Repeat for all desired stylus systems. 7. Transfer all files to desktop of “offline” system. 8. On Offline system, go to menu item Planner and select Import SSC files 9. On first time only, select Import SSC MasterProbe. 10. Select ssc file designated as MasterProbe. Green check signifies success. This does not need to be done again. 11. Click Load System 12. Select ssc file for desired stylus system 13. Click Accept Loaded System 14. Click OK on “Create new stylus system” window. 15. Click Close 16. At top menu, select Stylus System Management icon. Newly imported stylus system should be active. 17. Click “Create RC List” button at lower right. 18. Click “Styli list” tab. List should only show original –Z styli. 19. Click “Open Folder” at middle. 20. Select .txt file, created on cmm, for desired stylus system. And click OK. 21. Styli list should show all of the stylus names and RDS angles from cmm stylus system. 22. Click “Create New Stylus System” icon at top. 23. Select “Update” and click OK 24. At “Transfer Stylus Data” window, leave everything as is and click OK 25. Additional styli may not appear until you close the Stylus System Management window. [Ji...]
Tom, Thank you for your help. I tried the steps from your last post. Unfortunately Our CMM does not let you have the RC list. It is there it just is faded and will not let you click on it. We definitely need to send a couple people to Planner class. The programming from the CAD model is simple enough but getting it set up not so much. I will be happy once I understand how to get everything in so we can run simulation so we know it will not crash.

[Ji...]
So after following Tom's instructions. What I have found is without buying a license to be able to get your stylus from the CMM you are programming for, Simulation is useless. All I can do with the way we are set up is program the part off line and then manually touch off on the CMM and watch every tool and every clearance plane the first time through. I can not even get the Master Probe to work right with the machine we have. I can put it in as RDS XXT and get a master probe. We do not have a RDS machine in house. I need it to build the Master Probe for the Vast Gold XXT. When it builds for it the probe is at the head not sticking down 3" like our Master Probe. Tried every trick Tom gave me and a few more on my own and no joy.

[Ji...]
For the CMM's to be able to create the stylus in .SSC. I created the Prismo Mass with Vast Gold XXT and it created a master probe for it that the ruby was about where the stylus plate would be. Went through the same creating the Duramax with the Zeiss Fixed Mounting then XXT. Separate question when I put my CAD model on the Duramax it shows it to be at the probe head instead of on the table not seeing how to move it? [No...]
You can move it with the positioning functions behind the lower right button in the simulation window. Make sure you always keep "drag base alignment" chrecked.

On the offline station, create the same stylus system(s) you will use on the CMM with the same name(s) using Stylus System Creator. When you transfer the program to the CMM it will use that stylus system.
