[Ja...] Posted April 28, 2020 Share Posted April 28, 2020 The upper-half of the Feature Control Frame is asking you to report the pattern in relation to the datums specified (A|B|C or whatever they may be). The lower-half is asking for the pattern to be reported to itself, though it's often held to one datum and that datum is usually the surface or plane the pattern "lives" on. So, more simply, top-half = What's the pattern doing in relation to the part or assembly as a whole? Bottom-half = What's the pattern doing in relation to itself? This is important to control because often a pattern will be just fine by itself, but is in the wrong location relative to everything else.
