[Ja...]
I want to measure the radius of a cylinder but I only have about 25 degrees of the cylinder to measure. I want to constrain the location. The only thing I can seem to do is constrain normal vector. I would have thought I want to constrain XY but it won't let me do that. The cylinder space axis is Z. How would you set the constraints for this? Link to comment https://qualityforum.zeiss.com/topic/20664-constraints/ Share on other sites
[To...]
Cylinder won't let you constrain X and Y like you can with a circle. Maybe create a circle and recall feature points from one of your paths. Edit Nominal X and Y, then constrain X and Y. Repeat for other circle paths in cylinder? [Me...]
A radius constraint can be added to a Cylinder. You will need to constrain the normal vector as well as X and Y to get a result. [To...]
Thanks Robert. Learned something new today. Jason, You can also use Radius Measurement under Size - Standards. This works the same way. On a circle, it automatically constrains X and Y. I have to assume based on Robert's post, that on a cylinder, the necessary restraints are in place as well. I've attached a sample of results from a cylinder, using 2 circle paths with 5 points each. [Ja...]
Thanks guys, I did eventually figure out that after I constrained the normal vector then it would except the XY constraint.
