UMESS-UX Manuals

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Does anyone here have a training manual for UMESS-UX?
There are three CMMs where i work at that has UMESS on them. I was able to find a binder with sections of the manual on how to use it but it is not complete.
Was wondering if anyone had a pdf copy or could point me where to get it from?
I tried looking at the computer and was not able to learn much by just clicking around.

Thank You,
Nixon

I don't think I still have a training manual, but I have PDFs of the base manual of versions 8.3, 8.4 and 8.6 and a few option manuals.
But unfortunately they're all in German only.

Maybe if I dig really deep in my old stuff, something else might surface, but as of now that is all I can supply.

Also finished digging (cough), also to no avail. Problem is, I never needed the English manuals and the UMESS CDs (you know what a CD is, I guess 🤣 ) didn't contain any documentation.

I bet there's still a copy of the old customer portal / forum, which had all the docs, stored on an SCSI drive, slumbering in the desk drawer of an old white-bearded Zeiss software guru.

I was on google for days and days trying to find anything related to UMESS. only few forums with questions.
a video of someone working on UMESS would be better for me but any manuals should help too.
I am on page 5 of me translating the German document you sent.

😱 😱 Wow, good luck! 😮 You should try and feed it to ChatGPT 😎
Now I also know why I don't have a training manual. The only 'full' training I had was on UMESS 300 in 1990 😃 . For all the other software I had booked upgrade trainings with rather sparse documentation.

I'm more of a visual learner. I need to watch someone do it from start to finish and then i am able to learn on my own.
But there is no one around that knows this software so i am left with learning the old fashion way lol.

Also thanks for the suggestion of using chatgpt. I didn't even know that was a possibilty. I have been using google translate but that has a 500character limit.

I'd be happy to help if only I could say I still know how it all works 🙄
It's amazing how fast one forgets things that once were daily routine for 10 years.

Honestly, I haven't used ChatGTP myself yet, but judging by what other people tell, I thought it might be worth giving it a try.
As an alternative to Google you may want to try DeepL.com. It has a 1500 character limit.
