Does this (quoted above) mean that I only need to download and install the Zeiss Calypso 2025 Service pack 8.0.04? If so, then why do they even show the full initial version to download? [Wo...]
Please sign in to view this quote. I have installed Calypso on a new PC that did not have it ever, created a new machine and the same thing happened - simulation is so slow it's unusable. [Fl...]
Hi everyone, I have a quick question about installing Calypso 8.0: We have the following Windows version: Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC Version 1809 According to the release notes, only Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 21H2 and Windows 10 LTSC 2019 (until 2029) are supported. Our version 1809 is not officially approved. Has anyone tested it with version 1809? We would have to purchase version 21H2 separately or switch to WIN 11 right away. When upgrading Windows, do you purchase the version directly from Zeiss or do you install it yourself? Thank you for your feedback.
[Ma...]
I have just now finished a new pc - from Calypso 6.6 and Win7 to Calypso 7.8 and Win11. I would suggest to go straight to updated Win11, if your IT dep. is not against that and go on there. I think this Calypso will work on that Win10 version, just support from ZEISS can step away due this Windows issue.
[HE...]
Has anyone experienced problems with the new version of Calypso 8.0? When programming a part, the CMM does not move, it stays static, or it moves but looks for the part in another location, among other errors. [Ma...]
I would doubt if it's software related. Stylus database is from local MS SQL server. I would ask IT if there were changes on their side or windows update / antivirus update. I would suspect event lan cable to the internet. I only faced stylus error due being too fast after start of the system and mssql didn't run yet due service settings
[Wo...]
The WSAECONNRESET usually went away for me by setting Nvidia profile to "Autodesk Motion Builder compatible". Can't help with SDCO, maybe AV is blocking access to the file?
[HE...]
THANKS FOR SHARING THE INFORMATION, I WILL TRY TO MAKE THESE SETTINGS AND WILL DESCRIBE CHANGES IN THE FUTURE, I FOUND BASIC PROFILE IN MY NVIDIA SETTINGS, I WILL CHANGE TO THE RECOMMENDATION
[Je...]
Please sign in to view this username. , My advice through testing is that you upgrade to Windows 11 64-bit. Apart from the Simulation debacle, which presents on all Windows versions, Calypso 8.0 performs well on Windows 11. We're past the time gradient where Windows 10 has equal viability as Windows 11 in mainstream manufacturing situations. Regarding the specific Windows 10 builds, you mentioned, I speculate that the issue stems from Zeiss's new licensing utility, which relies on low-level system access. The stricter security of LTSC 21H2 (like VBS and KMCI) likely blocked the older utility. Instead of patching, Zeiss focused on their 64-bit re-write.
[Fl...]
Thank you. We would like to switch to WIN 11. However, first we would have to purchase it, and secondly, it would only work with our existing PC if it had a TPM module installed—which is not the case. Therefore, we would have to purchase three new computers with WIN 11. And all that just to be able to switch to Calypso 8.0. The question is, if we do something like this, would you buy and install it yourself, or would you handle everything through ZEISS? [Ma...]
Please sign in to view this quote. I've followed some tips and guides on ZEISS Portal and here on forum and i was able to succesfully install and transfer newer version of Calypso on fresh new PC. For that you need admin rights for instalation process. From old pc you just copy a few folders - needed admin rights or IT help for copying stylus data -> locked by MSSQL process. https://portal.zeiss.com/knowledge-base?id=1417384 https://portal.zeiss.com/knowledge-base?id=444235

Agreed, I've been using Win11 basically since it came out, even on systems that were not officially supported (I'm a sucker for new shiny things 😁) and had no issues running Calypso at all. As you said, the program is totally unusable if you activate clearence planes.
[Wo...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Hi Mads, The performance issue mentioned in the quote is affecting the simulation, which is separate from the slowdown of running live programs (still present too). I will try to contact Zeiss next week as their fixes did not work for me for either issues. 1
[Ma...]
Just heard from my local Zeiss support - the fix for the slowdown, for the live programming affecting index heads, will be included in the next SP (8.0.08) Don't know when the release will be.

[Ja...]
Just got done installing the latest update released on 9/2/25 (8.0.0402). Simulation is still basically non-functional. I've opened a ticket to see if I can get some information.
[Wo...] Posted yesterday at 12:14 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 12:14 PM Please sign in to view this quote. Yeah, I have installed 7.8 alongside 8.0 just to use simulation. I program with 7.8 and switch to 8.0 to modify plans already saved in 8.0. Curiously, 7.8 still has broken rotation of XTR in simulation, although a fix was promised a few service packs ago. With 8.0, it rotates, but its non-functional as you've said, so not usable. There have always been bugs in Calypso, but it seems they're more severe recently. I've tried opening the 8.0 plans with 7.8 by changing the version file, and it worked fine on a few plans I've tested - but piweb is a nogo ( something about updated database etc.). Hopefully, the next service pack actually fixes these things.
[Ri...]
DuraMax simulation is broken too. The stylus system shows to be in the correct orientation, the stylus system database shows the correct coordinates/orientation, but it doesn't measure the part, and show probing object shows the stylus rotated 90. 😭
